Fabiola Alba-Vivar
Assistant Professor of Economics at Wake Forest University
- Welcome to my website! I am an applied microeconomist working on Education, Labor and Health.
My research examines how policy and infrastructure shape access to education, health, and economic opportunity in developing countries. I study how people navigate barriers to essential services and opportunities in their daily lives—from transportation networks that determine college access, to citizenship policies that affect healthcare, to the role of college quality in students' success. My research provides insights for designing equitable interventions that support human development in rapidly urbanizing and underserved contexts in Latin America.
I am affiliated with the Latin American and Latino Studies Program (LALS) at Wake Forest University and am a CDEP Fellow at Columbia University's Center for Development Economics and Policy.
During Summer-Fall 2026, I will be on sabbatical visiting Columbia University and look forward to connecting with researchers in the area. You can contact me at: albavif@wfu.edu
Upcoming Talks and Conferences:
Spring-Summer 2026: University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (online), DECON Seminar PUCP (Lima, Peru), DevSouth (Duke), RIDGE Migration Network (Barbados)
